Wednesday, July 21, 28 at 6:30 p.m. - Spanish Conversation Group
This informal conversation group is open to all ages, and it is intended to provide an opportunity to practice conversational Spanish.  It is not intended as a tutoring or training session.  Instead, it is an informal way to practice and retain language skills over the summer.  The group will meet in the Archive Room evey Wednesday evening through July 28.  This program is co-sponsored by the Friends of the Johnston Public Library.  No advance registration is required.

Saturday, August 21 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. - Bike Identification Tagging
The Johnston Police Department will be hosting this free event in the Johnston Public Library. No appointments are necessary. Bring your bike in between the hours of 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. to have your bike tagged to assist in theft recovery.

Tuesday, September 14 at 7:00 p.m. - Drug Awareness for Parents
This class provides basic drug knowledge regarding common drugs in Johnston. This course will also offer tips for parents for detecting and preventing the use of drugs in their children.  No Registration Required.

Thursday, September 23, 2010 at 6:30 p.m. - Fall Back Into Gardening with Robyn Hoffland
Robyn is back by popular demand teaching everyone what they need to do to get gardens ready for the upcoming fall and winter. Register.

Tuesday, October 5 at 7:00 p.m. - Neighborhood Watch
Is your neighborhood concerned about security and other personal safety issues? Take time to learn about neighborhood watch and start a program in your neighborhood. All it takes is a few residents to get a program going. Register.

Wednesday, October 6, 2010 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. - Flu Shot Clinic
Visiting Nurse Services will be here administering the seasonal flu shot for $20.00/shot.  If you are on Medicare, please bring all of your insurance cards.  The event will be held in our Archive Room.

Friday, October 8, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. - Ghost Hunters!
IPART the only Iowa ghosthunter's group that is a part of TAPS, will be at the Simpson Barn at 7:00 p.m. to share the stories, pictures, and even video footage of their ghosthunting adventures.  They are bringing all of their ghosthunting equipment for everyone to examine.  Come on over to the Barn...if you dare!  Register.

Need a great gift idea for teachers, bus drivers, or anyone else on your holiday gift list?  Gift jars are fun, easy and much appreciated!  Come to Johnston Public Library at 6:00 p.m. to learn how to make one.  Please bring one jar with a lid - all other materials will be provided.  For more information, call the library at 278-5233 or stop by the Reference Desk.  Register.
